An email from one of our clients

July 26, 2010
We’re always a little tentative about using testimonials, but in this case we’re making a (modified) exception.

Testimonials are weird.  We’ve never really used them— even though our clients say lots of really nice things about us— because they never seem really genuine.  If the Director of Communications at X University says “White Whale was great to work with!,” then, well, it’s probably true, but doesn’t that feel a little artificial?  We’d rather you learn how much our clients like us by asking them— as we often say, you’re free to contact anyone we’ve ever worked with to learn more about us.

But recently we all got an email— sent to all of us, everyone@whitewhale.net, that made us feel very proud of the work we do, and we thought we’d put it on our site.  It’s from Will Pittinos at Lake Forest College— whose LiveWhale-powered site will be launching this summer— and it literally made us blush

Here it is— and to protect the identities of the not-so-innocent, we have deleted the name of the clunky Web service application that Will’s contrasting our software with.

Subject: Why White Whale rocks
To: everyone@whitewhale.net

Hey guys,

I’m at a conference now for [ other software ], and it’s pretty much served as a constant reminder about why you guys rock. Your customer service is better. Your development is better. But, most importantly, your open-minded approach to the Web sets you apart from probably every other higher-ed CMS provider and designer. You don’t just give lip service to being on the cutting edge; you actually are. It’s so much easier to brainstorm and come up with great ways to use the Web for us to be more efficient. Just keep it up and don’t ever lose what is surely one of the best aspects of working with you. A great example: we’ve been trying for two years to get them to add comments to a page or news story, and we get a different excuse about why it’s so difficult every time.

Once again, thanks and keep up the great work!

-Will

Thanks for making our day, Will!
