Westward ho!
As of October 15th, White Whale Web Services will be based in Oakland, California.
Jason Pontius, the president of White Whale, is moving to California, for obvious reasons (it's nice there) and not-so-obvious ones (he and his girlfriend are from there). With him travels company headquarters.
However, we will continue to maintain a full-time developer in Providence (our new hire Donald Tetto) to handle ongoing business with our beloved Providence clients. Alex Romanovich, our application developer, remains in New York City; Jennifer Haley, our producer, is now based in Los Angeles. Most of our frequent contractors (Jesse von Doom, Tonya Langford) remain in Providence as well.
Thus our little company, which has always been virtual to some degree, will be completely so for a while. We will try to combat feelings of isolation with phone calls, IMs, videoconferencing software, and regular company pow-wows in sunny locales; we hope to eventually reunite in a California-based office.
To our current clients: Our goal is for you to notice no disruption in our usual level of service throughout the transition month of October. However, if we occasionally have to make a conference call from a truck stop, or if we don't pick up the phone right away if you call at 8:30 am Eastern time, we appreciate your patience.
